Holistic Nutritional Consultations

image-assetMy medical training is based on the teachings of Master Li Dong-Yuan (1180– 1251c.e) of the Earth School, which focuses on digestion as the center of health. If the digestion isn’t functioning fully, it cannot nourish the rest of the body. This system of medicine classifes food according to its energetic effects and certain foods are viewed as warming and nourishing while others are seen as cooling and eliminating; some foods are useful for building qi and blood. Others have yang or yin building proprieties. Food in this context either assists or hinders our daily efforts to maintain balance and health, or to recover from illness. The choices depend on our individual constitutions. It is not just a matter of eating nourishing food but of eating nourishing food that is right for individual body types. We will talk about how to start listening to your body and you will learn how to give it the foods it craves. I will guide you to the best foods to nourish your constitution and maintain or regain health.

Building on this tradition, I am also one of the few practitioners to train directly with Dr. Natatsha Campbell- McBride who developed the GAPS diet (Gut and Physiology Syndrome) and can work with individuals who would like to focus on more drastic diet changes to help over come a more serious concern like autism, adhd, dyslexia, dyspraxia, depression, obsessive–compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder and other neuro- psychological and psychiatric issues. The GAPS Diet focuses on removing foods that are diffcult to digest and damaging to gut fora, and replacing them with nutrient-dense foods to give the intestinal lining a chance to heal and seal.
